RAMAPO, New York –The Brockton Rox offense put together some early runs, which the Boulders could never catch, to take the series opener, 6-1, on Tuesday night at Provident Bank Park.
Brockton’s offense earned ten hits in the game behind a strong pitching performance from Julian Sampson; who earned his ninth win of the season pitching seven innings and allowing one run on six hits.
The Rox got off to a quick start in the first inning. After loading the bases, Mike Torres drove in the first run of the game on a ground out giving Brockton an early lead. They added another on a sacrifice fly from Shawn Williams to make the score 2-0.
Brockton went back to work in the third. With two outs in the inning, Dan Barbero singled through on the right side to drive in two more and make it a 4-0 Brockton lead.
In the fourth, the Rox added another run on a sacrifice fly from Dominic Ramos to put the Rox up 5-0.
The Boulders got on the board in the fifth with their only run of the game. Cristobal Santana led off with a single and scored from first on a one out double from Ryde Rodriguez, trimming the lead to 5-1.
The Rox added another run in the eighth, thanks to Melvin Falu, who singled to score Barbero and give Brockton a 6-1 edge.
