The Rockland Boulders will be holding dance tryouts on Sunday, April 22nd from 10:00 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Provident Bank Park in Pomona, New York. Dancers who are chosen will become members of the Rockland Roll and perform at each Rockland Boulders home game during the 2012 season.
“The Rockland Roll dancers provide additional entertainment for fans when they come to Boulders games,” said Dana Fjermestad, Marketing and Promotions Manager for the Rockland Boulders. “Fans love to watch our dancers and they feed off of the energy the team brings each night.”
Those wishing to tryout must have prior dance experience, be available to attend every Rockland Boulders home game, and come ready to learn a new routine. Dancers are asked to come dressed to practice, however, outfits must be family-friendly.
“We are looking for talented dancers who can add value to our family-friendly environment,” said Fjermestad. “The Rockland Roll is our home-town dance team.”
Tryouts will be done in three parts. First, dancers will fill out a quick contact information survey for judging purposes. After the surveys are complete, dancers will warm-up and begin to learn a dance taught by Rockland Roll dance coordinator Autum Gagne. Upon learning the short routine, dancers will be asked to perform as a group and individually to test group chemistry and ability to learn dance steps quickly. Dancers will then be chosen to stay for the final interview process.
“Fans look at our dancers as role models,” said Fjermestad. “Dancing is only half of what it means to be a part of the Rockland Roll. We need individuals who interact well with our fans and can become people fans can look up to.”
